Then a Miracle Occurs
These past few weeks have been amazing. I want to tell you all about it, but it’s hard to know where to start…
It’s a fact that even coaches need coaches. I’ve known that since becoming one myself. Because no, we’re not perfect and yes, we can always use a little help getting past the invisible-to-us barriers that have been our limiting beliefs. What does all that mean?
Putting it out on the table… It means that if I believe I’ll never sell as many books as I’d hoped, then I won’t. It means that if I believe that to be safe I need to play small, then I’ll always be small. It means that if I don’t feel worthy, then success can’t find me. These are a few limiting beliefs that I’ve been carrying around.
Limiting beliefs are often not visible to us until we do the work to uncover them. Behind the scenes, the brain is using information and experiences from the past to keep us safe. My brain was just trying to keep me safe, bless it. But it was using outdated information that no longer applied.
EFT Tapping can be used very effectively to clear old limiting beliefs and create new ones. My coach is helping me understand that I can do this slowly enough so that my brain accepts the small changes and doesn’t set off alarms again trying to keep me safe.
I worked on being open to a little success, and when that success came, I took the time to celebrate it with gratitude. I was open to possibility and grateful at the same time and that’s when miracles occur. Seemingly out of the blue came new opportunities and a few more book sales. Small wins arrived at a comfortable pace, which was just what I needed.
Then came a chance to review a draft of a book from two esteemed colleagues on a topic I needed to learn about. What an honor and a gift!
Then came a completely unexpected opportunity to attend a writers’ retreat that was happening in 6 days across the country and I said “Yes!” While this was definitely a little out of my comfort zone, my reaction told the universe that I’m showing up and taking this writing thing seriously.
Then boom! While I’m traveling to the retreat, Amazon tells me that my first book, Rx for RNs, has had bulk paperback orders. My dream has been that this stress management book will be included in nursing school programs and now it seems to be happening! I am thankful beyond words. Picture the Snoopy dance here!
I’ve learned that it IS safe and comfortable to be successful and to let go of playing small because my work and my words ARE worthy. To get to this place took experienced guidance from my coach and lots of meditating, tapping, and soul searching. It takes being open to possibility and showing gratitude even before the results show up.
We are each capable of miracles at our own pace. We ARE worthy of what our hearts dream about. Get clear on what that is for you and then listen in to what your mind and body tell you about it. What stories do you tell that start with “I never…” or “I always…” or “That won’t work for me…”? Becoming aware of these stories can help uncover hidden limiting beliefs.
Once you’ve identified beliefs that are outdated and are holding you back, tap on releasing them so you can write your new stories. Be open to small wins and miracles in the direction of your dream. And remember to say thank you when they find you.
You’ve got this!
Keep Calm and Tap On!
Please remember: It's important to contact a professional if things feel too big for you, whether it be a physician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or certified EFT practitioner. Never discontinue your current medications without first consulting your doctor.
