What a Pain in the Neck!

Did you know a person or event can actually be a pain in your neck? True story…

The other day I was at home after running some errands and working with technical support on my web server errors, tending the fire in the wood stove. I had done no heavy lifting, no awkward turns of my head, nothing that would have created the sudden sharp pain in the left side of my neck. No warning at all! I’m sitting in front of the fire and suddenly I can’t turn my head to the left without a sharp pain. I’ve had these before and they start small and eventually run from my neck all the way down to under my shoulder blade. And they can last for days!

But this is the first time I’ve had one of these pains in my neck since I started EFT Tapping. Aha! I can fix this now! I can tap on it! My neck pain has an intensity level of about 8. Ouch. Tapping on the side of the hand:

Even though I have this sharp pain in the left side of my neck at the base of my skull, I love, accept and forgive myself.
Even though this pain in my neck is sharp when I look to the left, I completely love, accept and forgive myself. And I’m OK.
Even though I have this sharp pain in my neck, I accept myself and I’m OK.

Tapping through the other points:
TOH: This sharp pain in my neck.
EB: Hurts especially when I look to the left.
SE: This sharp pain in my neck.
UE: Sharp pain on the left side of my neck.
UN: So tired of this sharp pain in my neck.
Ch: Really sharp pain in my neck.
CB: Where did this pain come from?
UA: This sharp pain in my neck.

I could still feel it hurting so I tried a few more rounds, just talking out loud as things came up, trying to allow myself to feel safe to let it go. Hmmmm….still about a 6. OK then. Time to bring out the big guns. 9 Gamut to the rescue. Yes indeed, much better, down to a 3. I love the 9 Gamut procedure. As I relaxed and observed how I was feeling, I tried to think how I could get this pain down from a 3 to a 0. What came up actually made me laugh out loud.

It occurred to me that the old saying “what a pain in the neck” can literally be true. Bothersome events and people can actually cause me to have a pain in my neck! Using that approach to my tapping language, I tried 3 more rounds of tapping on my stress, frustration, and disappointment about my website and email server being down right after I had announced the site to lots of people. What a pain in the neck! Ha! The tapping brought the pain down to a 0. Gone. And it has stayed ever since. I love EFT.

If you have any questions about what words to use, the points abbreviations used above, or about the 9 Gamut procedure, please contact me! I’d love to help.

Keep Calm and Tap On!

Please remember: It's important to contact a professional if things feel too big for you, whether it be a physician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or certified EFT practitioner. Never discontinue your current medications without first consulting your doctor.
