The past few weeks have been full with learning, sharing, doing rewarding work, and being grateful. As I have been tapping more with children, I see how quickly this powerful tool can work if we are open and willing to change. Without as many emotional blockages as most adults, children respond quickly and with joy to improve their lives. They don’t care how or why tapping works. They just let it work. And they are so happy to share tapping with others! I’ve seen dramatic and beautiful shifts in these children and I am so thankful.
Tapping techniques used with children need only slight modifications from techniques used with adults. Intensity levels may be measured not with numbers but maybe with their hands or the choice of an appropriate sized ball or string. The second part of the setup statement wording can be adjusted to match the age and needs of the child. Incorporating words like “I’m an awesome kid” can bring a smile and a shift in energy like magic. Or just tap and talk together – it’s a wonderful way to share time with a child.
In addition to immediate relief from symptoms, a good indication of success using tapping with children is when I hear from their parents or grandparents that the child is teaching their friends or other family members how to tap and telling them how great it works! There are many people and groups working to bring tapping into schools and the lives of children. Tapping Star has tons of information on tapping in schools to relieve anxiety and bring calm to the classroom. Tapping for Kids and Tapping with Children are just a couple more of the many sites that offer books and great resources.
If you want to bring tapping to your child, don’t worry about getting it exactly right. It’s a very simple way to get your child to open up and just talk with you. Tap together each day and see what happens. If you have any questions at all about how to start or how to handle something that comes up, please let me know. I am so very happy to help you share this tool with your children!
Keep Calm and Tap On!
