EFT – The Next Generation
A few weeks ago I had the honor of speaking with an unexpectedly large group of pre-school teachers as part of their continuing education. I was one of three speakers that evening, with the other two speakers providing information and activities about nutrition and how teachers can motivate their students to move more and to choose healthy eating options. And I was there to give the teachers a tool for themselves as well as their young, energetic charges, EFT Tapping.
Every hand in the room went up when I asked if anyone felt stress from their job. This was not a surprise to anyone and we all shared a laugh. It is truly amazing the level of constant caring activity at an early learning center and the number of subtle and not-so-subtle decisions the staff makes on a moment by moment basis. I am thankful to each of them for the dedicated patience they show each day. And to give back to them, I taught them how to use EFT Tapping to relieve their stress.
Picture a group of over 100 pre-school teachers sitting at round tables watching me show them how to tap on all the tapping points. Talk about things getting silly in a heartbeat… It was a great experience and I am so thankful that after they all got over the initial laughing, they took it very seriously. We all learned the basics and then we had a couple of volunteers that we all tapped with for their specific stress and where they felt it in their bodies. When they were both able to decrease their physical discomfort as well as their feelings of stress, there were lots of good questions about how others could use it. My favorite: Will it work with children? Yes, it will definitely work with children! Children don’t care how it works or how it looks. They take to it easily and benefit greatly.
We talked briefly about how to change the language to use when working with children and I could see the gears turning in their heads as they started talking with each other about how to use this in their classrooms. I was thrilled and inspired to answer their questions and give them this amazing tool to use for themselves and their precious students. Imagine having a room full of young children tapping and learning to deal with feelings as they come up, or teachers using tapping with a student as a way of handling discipline issues. What a great way to start life.
I have two more groups to speak with over the next few weeks and I look forward to sharing EFT Tapping with them as well. If you are a teacher, I highly recommend daily tapping for your own stress so you can bring your best emotional energy forward each day. Let me know if you have questions about using EFT. I’d be very happy to talk with you.
Keep Calm and Tap On!
